Hi Educators.

On Tuesday September 6 The Children’s Museum of Acadiana will do a live
hands on demonstration receiving radio transmission from the ARISS-1
satellite that was launched from the space station in July. Please
invite your students to attend and bring their radios. We will give them
instruction how to tune in on the satellite at home.

The CMA will send out a formal invitation shortly. If you have any
questions please call.

A Note From W5AMI

Come enjoy the beauty of Rich Mountain with family and friends. Forty
two years ago a number of guys on 75 meters decided to come to this
place to do just that. Y’all come enjoy the mountain, fellowship, and
let’s get acquainted. Just 13 miles west of Mena, Arkansas, on Hwy 88,
Queen Wilhelmina State Park sits at an elevation of 2500 ft on Rich Mt.

Greetings friends.

First, let me apologize for sending this out last minute. Being caught
up in the AOC move has left me a bit out of touch with some of the other
projects I am working on.

In a nutshell, I am asking you to click on the link below is a petition
to our elected officials in support of community radio. Community radio
is becoming a vital need as the airwaves are being bought up by the
major communications companies in the country. This petition is to
dismiss the applications of "translator stations". These stations do
nothing more than pipe in radio stations from other markets. Most of
them do nothing to serve our community.

So, if we can get these applications off of the table, then we will be
better able to move ahead with the project of getting Lafayette a
community radio station in the mid part of next year.

Again, please click through and submit. For more information, please
see this link:
(If the automated petition link above does not work, then click on the
"taking this e-action" link on this page)

I will send out more news about this great project once I am past the
AOC move to the new facilities. If you are interested in helping out or
know of someone who would be interested in this, please have them send
me an email.
