All area Amateur Radio Operators are being asked to provide EMCOMM for
the Lafayette Parish Emergency Operation Center. During Hurricane
Kaboudreaux a tornado hit the downtown Lafayette area causing major
damage to the EOC.

EVERY antenna that was on the roof of the EOC is down. When the tornado
took the radio towers down, the towers fell through the roof breaking
the water pipes for the sprinkler system and flooding the EOC.

Please be at the EOC which is located at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse
( 200 Main Street )by 8:30 AM sharp. We will be given some tasks to
perform by the EOC Director Bill Vincent. The task will be performed
before we setup our personal and the club's radio equipment for Field
Day 2012. The three tasks will challenge our ability to provide
Lafayette Parish's EOC critical communication links when all of the
other systems are down.

This weekend is Field Day !

Hams will operate their equipment using generators or battery power with the
goal of contacting other hams across the U.S. and its possessions. Field Day
was designed to test operators' abilities and skills to set up and operate portable
stations for at least a 24 hour uninterrupted period. This will simulate emergency
conditions such as the loss of electricity, and other normal services that everyone
has come to enjoy and use without even thinking about it.

Good luck to the announced Field Day stations:
