Joseph "Joe" Coleman - KA5RML -Silent Key


Joseph Elmer Coleman, Sr.

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at a 3:00 pm Mass of Christian 
Burial in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers on Thursday, February 21, 
2013, for Joseph "Joe" Coleman, Sr., 82, who passed away on Monday, 
February 18, 2013 at his residence.

Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Coleman was the son of the late John Pharr Coleman, Sr., and the 
former Edia Desormeaux Coleman Theriot.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He proudly 
served in the U.S. Navy

aboard the U.S.S. Mount McKinley and was honorably discharged in 1950. 
Mr. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Third Order of the 
Carmelites, Acolyte, and Eucharistic Minister. He was an amateur radio 
operator,"KA5RML," and a member of the local Ham Radio Club. He was the 
owner and operator of Coleman Sheet Metal Works.

He is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Dolores Theriot Coleman; 
his daughters, Adrienne C. Seal and her husband Rick and Mary E. 
Coleman; his sons, Marc D. Coleman and his wife Gloria, Randal S. 
Coleman and his wife Briana, and Joseph E. Coleman, Jr. and his wife 
Terri; eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; and three 
sisters, Mary Brooks, Joy Touchet, and Cecile Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Roberta Coleman, 
Rita Rose Coleman, Mildred Dore, Winnie Salazar, Dorothy Avant, and 
Carita Hooper; his brothers, Frank Coleman, John P Coleman, Jr., Paul 
Coleman, and Patrick "Buddy" Theriot.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral 
Home of Lafayette on Thursday from 10:00 am until time of service. A 
Rosary will be recited at 12:00 pm on Thursday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be his six grandsons, Brent Coleman, Jacob Seal, Daniel 
Seal, Josh Greeson, Evan Greeson, and Hayden Coleman. Honorary 
Pallbearers will be Lauren Coleman, Leslie Godeaux, Stephanie Coleman, 
Michelle Seal, and Delaine Coleman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to: Carmelite 
Monastery, 1250 Carmel Drive Lafayette, LA, 70501.
