Newton Aucoin - N5BOD - Silent Key
Funeral services for Newton Aucoin will be held on Monday, May 25, at 11 
am from Hargrave Funeral Home located at 1031 Victor II Blvd., in Morgan 
City.
Newton had not been well for several years and died Thursday May 21 at 
Teche Regional Hospital in Morgan City.
Prior to his illness, Newton was a very active ham in St. Mary Parish.  
He was a life member of the ARRL, conducted several beginners classes 
for hams, was the sponsor of the St. Mary Parish 2 meter repeaters.  In 
addition, he served as a contact and liaison between the ham radio 
community and the officials of the St. Mary Parish Civil Defense.  He 
was also an active member of Civil Air Patrol and was the mainstay for 
the search and rescue team for many years.
Newton enjoyed his station very much and was extremely proud of his 
Collins equipment.  He was always on standby if anyone needed a station 
to connect to while operating mobile.
