The Acadiana Amateur Radio Association, Inc. (AARA) August newsletter

The AARA August General Meeting will be held on August 4th at 7:00 PM at 
the Red Cross Building, 101 N. Pat Street, Scott, LA.  VE Testing will 
be at 6:00 PM.  Bring your CSCE's, pictured ID, and $15.00 test fee.

The AARA Club 147.040 W5EXI repeater in Duson, LA is at this time down.  
This is the EchoLink repeater.  Changes are under way to move into a new 
building at this time.  It may be a week or so before it is back up and 
running.  Please bear with us.

*Technician Only Contest*
      There will be something new kicking off on September 1st, 2011.  
To give the local Technician Class operators a little competition and 
stimulate some activity for them, a contest was announced a couple of 
meetings ago and here is how it will go.  It will be for _*Technicians 
Only. *_ Technicians may work other Technicians, General and Extra Class 
operators.  You may work them on 2 meter or 440 repeaters, simplex, 
EchoLink and IRLP.  A log will be kept, no QSL cards need be exchanged, 
"Honor System" in effect.  Log Calls, Names, Dates, Time (local) and 
Mode (simplex, repeater, etc.). Use the last letter in the call 
(suffix), first one to complete the alphabet A-Z will get a nice 
certificate and prize.  I will have logs at the meeting or you may 
download a log in .PDF at:
