J. D. Perkins

J. D. Perkins, 90, of Orange, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 
at his home in Orange. Born on October 19, 1923 in Starks, Louisiana to 
his parents, E. B. and Missouri (Bass) Perkins, he was a longtime 
resident of the Orange area, he served his country as a member of the 
Medical Corp in the United States Army and he worked as a Process 
Operator at the DuPont Sabine River Works Plant in Orange. J. D. was a 
Ham Radio operator under the call letters WA5COD.

J. D. is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jim Perkins and 
Curtis Perkins and his sister, Audrey May Dunlap. Those who will most 
cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Annie E. (Peco) Perkins of 
Orange; his children, Elizabeth (Perkins) Hudson and husband, Conrad of 
Buna, Bruce Perkins of Jasper, Dianna (Penkins) Simmons of Orange and 
Donald Perkins and wife, Melissa of Orange; his sister, Vera Corbitt of 
Houston; his brother, Rodger Perkins of Elkhart, Texas; his 
grandchildren, Missy (Williams) Keenon, Chad Williams, Tyler Perkins, 
Hunter Perkins, Davy Smith and Krystle Simmons; his great grandchildren, 
Anthony Smith, Trevor Keenon, Kaitlan Keenon, Michael Williams, Matthew 
Williams, Kelby Newsome, Kassidy Newsome and Avery Perkins; his great 
great granddaughter, Huntley Smith. J. D. is also survived by numerous 
members of his extended family.

Services to honor J. D.'s life will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 
29, 2014 in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating 
will be Chaplain Jerry Fenter with Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Rite of 
Committal and Interment will follow services at the Bland Cemetery in 
Orange. A gathering of J. D.'s family will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 
P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed for the
