*GOHSEP is monitoring the threat of severe weather across the state 
starting tonight and through tomorrow. Strong to severe thunderstorms 
are expected to develop over portions of east Texas this afternoon and 
gradually track eastward into western Louisiana by late this afternoon 
and into the overnight hours. Eventually this activity will congeal into 
a squall line as it moves towards our area. *

*All modes of severe weather will be possible as storms first initiate 
this afternoon but should bring more of a damaging wind and embedded 
tornado risk at the line moves through the region during the evening and 
overnight hours. The line of thunderstorms is expected to slow as it 
moves through the region, which will greatly increase the potential for 
Flash Flooding from training storms during the overnight hours. *

*There is currently a MODERATE RISK (level 4 out of 5) of Severe Weather 
Tuesday afternoon and evening, with the greatest threat along/north of 
I-12, especially in southwest MS and adjacent LA parishes. *

*Impacts:*

**

*The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:*

*Tornadoes:*

**

·*Tornadoes will be possible, and a few could be strong (EF2+) and/or 
long track.***

·*There is potential for a significant tornado outbreak.***

*Damaging Winds:*

**

·*Wind gusts greater than 60 mph will be possible.***

·*Trees and power lines could be damaged and lead to isolated/scattered 
power outages.***

*Large Hail:*

**

·*Large hail over 1 inch in diameter will be possible.***

*Rainfall*

**

·*Generally 2-3 inches Tuesday with locally higher amounts possible.***

·*Rainfall rates of 2-5" per hour possible, mainly north of I-10/I-12***

*Louisiana ARES will go on ALERT status at 0001 CDT, Tuesday, March 22.*

*Louisiana ARES will transition to STANDBY status at 1200 noon CDT, 
Tuesday, March 22.*

*After a request for ACTIVATION has been received from Local Emergency 
Management Officials or served agencies, the EC will activate ARES 
within their parish and will notify the DEC and SEC as soon as possible.*

**

*The SEC and DECs may activate a Region if additional manpower is needed 
to support those ECs which have activated their parish level ARES 
organization.*

**

*The Louisiana ARES Emergency Net will be on STANDBY status between 1300 
CDT – 1500 CDT, Tuesday, March 22, on the frequency of 3878. Net control 
station will be AI5B, operating from the Washington Parish Emergency 
Operations Center, Louisiana Region 9.*
