THIS IS A DRILL
Saturday June 16th.
NHC - Kaboudreaux now a CAT 5 slowly moves ashore making landfall in
Pecan Island, LA . Major damage caused by tidal surge flooding, tidal
surge is reported to be 35 feet in elevation, extreme rainfall, and
winds of 160 gusting to 190 are being reported. Police, Fire, and
Ambulance services suspend services dues to high winds and downed power
lines blockings roads. Cell phone, land line, and internet service is
down in the affected areas. All contact with area hospitals has been
lost, including radio contact. It is assumed that the high winds have
damaged the antennas at the area hospitals. Following SOP radio personal
at the hospitals will set up their back up portable antennas after the
winds are below 20MPH. Radio contact with all of the police, fire, and
ambulance services in the affected area has been lost.
OK Hams, it is time to get off the repeater crutch and go old school
(SIMPLEX)
_*Both of the AARA's repeaters have been taken out by Kaboudreaux*_, and
could be out of service for 3 to 6 weeks. Please switch to the Emergency
Frequency plan for 2012 Field Day. Due to the weather pattern we are in,
the SKYWARN repeater system will stay up. SKYWARN should only be used
for a REAL WORLD emergency, not ragchewing.
